Johan Nilsson - History
Johan Nilsson & Co AB was founded in April of 1900 by Ship’s Captain Johan Nilsson, born 1851 in Skärlöv, Öland. The company is one of few still active who founded Swedish Shipbrokers Association in 1919.
The Swedish Shipbrokers’ Association was officially established on February 25, 1919, at Hotel Rosenbad in Stockholm, with 51 companies as its founding members. Initial discussions about forming the association took place in 1911 in Norrköping, but its creation was delayed due to World War I. Over the past century, the organization has expanded and evolved to keep pace with changes in the maritime industry, celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2019. Today, it represents companies involved in liner agency services, ship brokerage, chartering, and vessel clearance.
